Postgraduate study in Laws:
Master of Laws (LLM), Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate
Fees
The total fee for the
LLM by External study is substantially less than the on-campus LLM fee
for non-EU students and, of course, as an External student you do not
have to pay to live in London and can continue to earn money while you
study.
Flexible
payment
You pay £600 once to
register and then £340 for each Section as you study. Any fees paid for
the
Postgraduate Diploma or
Postgraduate Certificate will be
credited for higher level Postgraduate Laws study within your five-year
registration period. If you wish you can pay the total fee for your
course of study upfront.
The fees for the 2007 calendar year are as follows:
One-off Registration fee
£600
Fee per Section
£340
To
receive the Postgraduate Certificate award you must successfully
complete
5 Sections, so the total cost for the Postgraduate Certificate
in Laws is
£600
+ (5 x £340 per Section) = £2,300
To
receive the Postgraduate Diploma award you must successfully
complete
10
Sections, so the total cost for the Postgraduate Diploma
in Laws is
£600 + (10 x £340 per Section) = £4,000
To
receive the Master of Laws (LLM) award you must successfully
complete
16
Sections, so the total cost for the Master of Laws (LLM)
is
£600
+ (16 x £340 per Section) = £6,040
Additional fees
payable to the University:
Exemption
application fee £54 per section
Examination
re-entry fee £32 per section
Fee for students who change their
choice of sections £100 per section
Registration
fee for students transferring from the LLM (Old Regulations)
£300
Note
that certain other costs may be payable to the University such as exam
re-entry (resit) fees and fees for the production of official transcripts.
Flexible
payment
You can pay the total fee upfront when you enrol or pay as you go, you
choose. 'Pay as you go' is a way of spreading the cost by paying the
registration fee when you enrol and then a section fee each time you
are ready to begin studying a new section. Please note that all fees
payable to the University are subject to annual review.
Other
costs
Besides
the fees payable to the University, you should budget for other costs
including:
the cost
of any local educational support
the extra
fees levied by your local examination centre to cover their costs each
time you sit an examination.
a fee for the production
of official transcripts
