Diploma in the Common Law *NEW FROM AUTUMN 2009*
Academic leadership
The Diploma in the Common Law has been developed by a consortium of
University of London Colleges known as the Laws Consortium* of the University of
London. This Consortium also offers the University of London LLB by External
study and is renowned internationally for its gold standard law programmes
delivered by External study.

As Director, Wayne Morrison is the driving force behind strategic planning
and key initiatives in the External Undergraduate Laws Programme. Since 1999, he
has instituted major reforms in the teaching materials, online provision and
relations with teaching institutions. He is also responsible for negotiations
concerning recognition of the LLB by External study and the Diploma in Law in
various jurisdictions as satisfying the academic stage of legal education.
Professor Morrison is a Professor of Law at Queen Mary (University of London)
Law School and is a highly regarded legal scholar. In 2006, he received the
degree of LLD in recognition of his work in the field of criminology and
jurisprudence. He is also the co-author of the subject guides in ‘Common law
reasoning and institutions’ and ‘Jurisprudence and legal theory’.
